8th Grade Washington DC & New York City Trip
I am planning to participate in an amazing educational program to Washington D.C. and New York City next summer (June 7-13, 2014) with my friends and classmates from Lawrence E. Jones Middle School. Teachers from our school will sponsor this trip and we are traveling with the educational tour specialist, School Tours of America. You can view their website at www.schooltoursofamerica.com to learn more about our tour.
Student travel is a fundamental part of the educational process and is essential to a well-rounded education. My mother was fortunate to travel a lot growing up in the military, and now that my dad is retired, I would like an opportunity to see as much of the world as I can. This tour will give me a hands-on education of some of the of our most important historical and cultural landmarks in Washington such as the Washington Monument, the US Capitol Building, the White House, Arlington National Cemetery and the many memorials with pay tribute to Lincoln, FDR and Thomas Jefferson, and so much more. In New York we will visit Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Empire State Building, St. Paul’s Chapel, Ground Zero, etc. Most importantly this trip will increase my appreciation for American heritage by exposing me to the diverse cultural roots of our country.
In order to take part in this educational adventure, I need to raise the balance of the cost of this trip (see my progress on this page http://www.mytourfund.com/ad/show/3186.
Would you be willing to sponsor a portion of my trip in place of a Christmas gift or birthday gift? Any contribution you could make would bring me closer to this changing experience.
I have declined going to Disneyland again next year for Cheer Nationals so I can go on this trip. I feel this is much more educational and possibly a trip of a lifetime.
If you have any questions or would like to find out more about where I will be traveling, please email me (well, my mom, I don’t use my email anymore firstname.lastname@example.org) and I would be happy to tell you all about it.
Thank you so much for considering this opportunity to help!
