The Jita Stancik Washington D.C. Scholarship Fund
Jita Stancik began taking her 8th grade students to Washington D.C. during spring break in March 1996 and continued to do so until her retirement in 2012. She passed this tradition on to her daughter, Tonya Taylor, after she retired and Jita continued to go to Washington D.C. on Tonya's school trips as often as possible. Jita loved history, but more than anything, she loved United States history. She taught it with a passion and left an imprint on so many students. Jita's favorite place to travel was Washington D.C. She loved to bring history alive for her students and made Washington D.C. fun, exciting, and memorable for all. Jita fought a courageous 12 year battle with lung cancer, which came to an end on July 28,2022. In her honor, a scholarship fund will be created to send one or more students nationwide to her favorite place, Washington D.C, each year. Please consider donating to carry on her legacy and allow others to develop a love for US history and Washington D.C. as she had.
